Sporty Fun at Xtreme Sports Bar, Hyderabad, India

What you see - As you walk into the 99 cover, double storied bar, you're greeted by the sound of fans cheering, sighing and yelping. Well, what else can you expect at Xtreme Sports Bar?

Opened in June 2008, this pub in Hyderabad is fast becoming a hangout for foreigners and Indians alike. As the name suggests, it offers you the sporting event of the day or season on the many flat screens adorning the walls. There is also a large projection screen on the ground floor. The bar area is towards a corner and the staff is all dressed in black T-shirts sporting the Xtreme Sports Bar logo.

On the bare brick walls are sports T-shirts and shorts of some famous footballers like Michael Ballack and Ronaldinho. Upstairs there are two VIP cabins that can seat up to 12 people each. Interestingly the coasters have various funny and out-of-the-ordinary quotes from sporting legends. These are must-reads.

What you get - Xtreme Sports Bar is open from 12 PM to 12 AM and serves Continental and Indian Tandoori cuisine. The pub also has an in-house DJ, playing Classic Rock and Retro music. Going with the requests of the customers and the popularity of the event, the sporting commentary is either left on or turned off.

On offer for lunch between 12 PM and 3 PM is a unique prepaid Continental meal. In this you get a bowl of salad, herb or buttered rice, sautéed vegetables, potatoes along with either chicken, fish or vegetable. To drink you have a choice between a pint of beer, a Breezer or a small drink of Bacardi, Smirnoff or Whisky. The food, with a drink included, is for Rs. 149.

For dinner there's a Continental a la carte menu on offer. Preferable for a group there is a Beer Tap which costs Rs. 700 for three and a half liters of beer. Otherwise, a pint of beer costs Rs. 80. Their variety of Shooters is quite popular.

Our verdict - The drinks and food are appetizing and reasonably priced while the service is fast and good despite the large crowd. There is limited parking space available as it is for the entire building. Go to this pub if you are a sports fan. What's good is that it is not too noisy either. You can talk and hear without having to shout above the din.
