Indian Sarees – A Glorious Fashion

The trendy and updated world always desires for something new and genuine getup. The Indian women always desire costumes that are not only eye catching but also elegant. Saree has been the most popular women's wear in India since early days. India has been known to have wonderful dresses and costumes. The most common and accepted attire is the Saree. The definition of a saree calls it a strip of unstitched cloth, ranging from four to nine meters in length that is draped over the body in various styles. The most common style to wrap the Indian sari is around the waist, with one end then draped over the shoulder baring the midriff.

Today, with the advent of various kinds of western dresses and easy to go attires like salwar kameez, most women find it difficult to drape a saree and also to handle it properly. However, it's not that difficult to drape a saree as it seems. The basic way of draping a saree is quite easy, but what actually becomes difficult are the myriad of other ways this garment is draped, which is distinguished in accordance to the various states that make up India's map.

The basic method to drape a saree is simple. The entire attire is made up of long piece of cloth in any fabric, a blouse and a skirt. One is required to first wear a blouse and a skirt. The peculiarity of the Indian blouse for the saree is that it is usually short, covering a woman's upper abdomen, usually till the mid-riff, just below the chest. The skirt is usually tied just below the navel. The cloth is wrapped around the skirt, pleated at the center and tucked into the skirt and the remaining part is thrown over the shoulder. The piece of cloth that is wound over the skirt and blouse is of varied fabrics that essentially can be draped easily. Thus, stiff, starched fabric is generally avoided. On a regular basis ladies generally prefer to wear cotton sarees that maybe printed, plain or embroidered, whereas for special occasions women adorn themselves in rich silk sarees.

Today, many designers have created the easy to slip on three-piece sarees. In most of the easy to wear Bridal Sarees, the skirt has the pleats already stitched, there is the blouse and instead of a full length piece of cloth, there is a wide stole that is tucked into the skirt on worn diagonally across, falling over the shoulder.
