The lost sole

Living in an apartment has its own entertainment value. Of course each apartment has its own idiosyncrasies. The whole aspect takes up almost a human trait.

 

Amusingly enough some things are very common that is the constant friction between housekeeping and the security. Each one proves to the residents that they are indispensable. Sometimes the hapless residents are caught in between, in this case soles less...... I mean shoes less.

 

It so happened that on a nice Monday morning, each flat was getting ready for the day. The children making fuss about the breakfast, lame excuses for not tiding the room, on various nitty-gritty like forgotten map work, home work not completed, and multitude of demand made by the school and teacher.

 

The office demands, project presentation, paper work,  work demands , re working schedules ...each and everyone busy organizing  themselves for the day and who would have given a mere thought to a pair of shoes, which would be adorned by the individuals, who eventually leave their home.

 

This, at the least, proved on that Monday morning most important and mind boggling worry. Yes...one whole wing (30 flats) in our apartment lost their soles.... I mean shoes.

 

Pandemonium broke out as early as 7.30 am when one small child cried out "I can't find my shoes". The exasperated mother rushed out muttering "nothing ever gets found in this house" Then the whole family stood aghast at their plight.

 

Then the whole wing stood in front of their flats ...some with their socks on, dismay on their face. Some red faced residents shouted for the security..., the house keeping...the secretary.... well then; shoe ghost had vanished with his booty long since, leaving the hapless residents to their fate.

 

Security personals with their somber faces swore that no one entered the apartment and they were vigilantly doing their duty. The house keeping workers threatened to walkout if any fingers were raised against them. The secretary was at his wits end to nail the culprit.

 

Now the question remains, how people managed to survive this catastrophe ...well some borrowed some reported late after visiting the shoe shop. What excuse they would have given for coming late is left to anyone's imagination and people who suffered using other's shoes had other stories to tell as well.

 

Well! Did we ever found out who had stolen our soles! Who was the ghost thief? No to this date.... But then two days later Bangalore Mirror, one of the dailies carried an article on the prolific shoe theft that occurred in various apartments, in and around Bangalore.

 

We, the residents consoled ourselves that we were not the only victim. The conviction among the residents was that, it must be a gang which was busily organizing and stealing shoes.

 

At this juncture, I should mention that I too lost three pairs of shoes. Hmm....one pair of well broken frayed favourite walking shoes which I miss till day.

 

Well ....if you have noticed any old shoe selling shops which have mushroomed recently in Bangalore, please do inform us. Perhaps we will find our shoes......

Injured baby bird in my garden ...?

I went outside about an hour ago and theres a little bird on the ground. Its hopping around and when it does its wings seperate at the back and show its skin which looks really red.

I left it for a while and when i went back out its still there just sitting there. I put some bread down for it but its not eating.

I dont know what to do. Theres no one else in the house with me and im scared of birds. (i no lame but still)
My parents wont be home for a few hours.

Is ther anything i can do to help it. i dont want it to get attacked by a cat or anything

Unless you know what kind of bird it is ,bread for any baby bird is a NO NO.

It could be a fledgling that has just left it's nest,and the parents will know where it is.

A young bird does not always have full feathering ,hence the bare back,

If you can put it in a bush or somewhere off the ground it will be safer.

There is no need to be scared of it ,there are lots of people that are, try and chase it in any long grass,if you can.

Otherwise there is not much you can do till your parents come home .do you have a neighbour that could move it for you.
