Is an all cotton sweater warmer than cotton/acrylic?

Not really. Acrylic is warm and lofty and helps hold warm air close to the body. While all cotton breathes, it can stretch, shrink, twist, and loose it's shape. All cotton is considered higher quality, even though it has durability issues. One reason acrylic and polyester is added to many cotton sweaters is for the purpose of shape retention, so the cotton yarns have a "memory" and they don't stretch shrink etc. One caveat, don't put acrylic in a very hot clothes dryer, dry it on a medium or low temperature.
