What guitar should i get? (an epiphone les paul plus top or and epiphone les paul ultra?)?

they both cost the same and i dont know that much about guitars i have been playing for 2 years now

Between those two, I'd get the Ultra. The quilted top is beautiful, and a little more rare than the flame top that you get with the standard plus top. Pictures of the quilted maple don't do the guitar justice. See it in person. The Ultra is a little lighter due to some open chambers in the body that also enhance the sound.

If you can afford $150 more (or don't mind waiting to save up), DEFINITELY get the Ultra II over the normal Ultra (see link below). In addition to the features found on the Ultra, the Ultra II also has a specially designed nanomag pickup that can make your guitar sound like an acoustic. You can adjust the volumes on the two humbuckers and nanomag to get a classic Les Paul sound, pure acoustic, or blend the two together for for a huge array of sounds that you can't get with any other guitar. The nanomag also has controls that let you adjust the treble, bass, and gain.
