Are There Other Alternatives To Adhd Meds For Kids?

ADHD has risen sharply in recent years; up to fifteen percent of school children are considered ADHD.  Many parents are opting for alternative remedies besides using drugs.  Alternatives such as homeopathic remedies and diet are helping many kids get off meds for ADHD.

Before you decide to use the meds for ADHD have an evaluation done by the child's' doctor and teacher so your can all decide together if this is the right way to go for your child.  There are many side effects such as fast heart rate, blood pressure and the possibility of heart attacks and hallucinations or psychotic experiences using ADHD meds for kids; so, you want to be positive that your child can benefit from them.

Stimulants such as amphetamines are usually prescribed first with small doses working up to larger doses, if your child needs it.  Antidepressants may be prescribed if the stimulants are not working or sometimes they might be used together depending on the symptoms. 

Some parents simply do not want to use ADHD meds for their kids. They do not want to medicate them if there are other ways to work out a solution, especially for concentration in school.  If they can not concentrate they can not learn and no parent wants that!

The inability to focus, fidgeting and behavioral problems which are common in ADHD has been successfully treated with acupuncture.  Like homeopathic therapies, acupuncture treats the core of the problem allowing the body to heal.  Meds for ADHD are temporarily helping the symptoms subside for as long as the medication is in the system.

Looking into alternative methods of healing is another option you may want to consider.  Many studies have found that traditional methods and complimentary methods of medicines can also work together allowing the removal of medications to be stopped sooner than when used alone.

What is the best dog small-med size dog, with small kids and with minimal shedding?
