how can i convince this boy to dress like a girl?

he is in my spanish class. we are doing a project on shakira and we are partners. we have to do an interview. and we decided it would be more fun if he were shakira and i was he interviewer. so now me and some other ppl in my class are trying to get him to dress up. i am bringing in my mini skirt and pink tank top. but how can i convince him to wear it and bellydance like shakira. right now he does not like the idea..but i think everyone else would enjoy it and it would be really funny

You should tell him that if he dresses like a girl, it will be better for your project & it will be fun too. Tell him that he'll have fun dressing up as Shakira for class & if he's still not sure, tell him to come to your house & you'll do his make-up & hair & if he doesn't like how he looks, then he doesn't have to dress-up as Shakira, but if he makes a pretty girl, which I'm sure he will, then tell him let's pick out something for him to wear. Make him shave his legs (everything), pluck his eyebrows, give him a manicure & pedicure, give him a complete makeover & spend the next few hours dressing him up in different outfits & let him practice dancing in high heels.

If I was your partner, I'd dress-up as Shakira & would even go to school dressed like a girl, but I'd change into Shakira right before the interview. I've included a link to a YouTube video of a boy imitatin Shakira, I hope you like it.

How to size myself for/buy my first bellydance costume?

I just started dancing about a month ago - right now it's been sports bras and sweatpants for me. I wanted to take the next step and get my first real costume - bra top, hip skirt (BTW - I hear conflicting opinions as to whether this classic outfit is called a Bedleh, or whether that name refers to another kind of outfit). I'm on a budget, though I wasn't interested in getting a dozen chains, midriff drapes or a bra with more coins than the mint. I do want an outfit that looks better than something you'd find in a Halloween costume store. Can such a gown be had for no more than $100?

I'm also unsure how to size myself for either the top or the bottom. I'm a 42" waist - how does my waist size relate to my hips? On top, I'm a 42DDD - how can I compare my normal size to what I'd need for my first costume in terms of band and cup size?

It is best if you can try on costumes before buying. I know that isn't always possible. (I am fortunate enough to live near enough to Scheherezade Imports to go there when she holds her sales) You should measure your torso at the level where you intend to have the waistband fitted to you for skirts or harem pants.

For bedlah, they are usually made to allow for "tweaking" for the correct fit. You can usually move the hooks on the bra and belt. You do need to have a good and secure fit for the bra top. You don't want unexpected surprises... trust me. You may need to contact the vendor to ask how they measure their costume items for a good fit.

If you know how to sew, or know someone who does, there are websites with descriptions of costumes and some also have instructions on making some basic costume items.

If you are on a budget, you might want to visit a thrift store. Often you can find something that you can remake into a really nice costume item. You can sometimes find jewelry that you can use on your costume. Multi-strand necklaces made with seed beads can be used as a belly drape, on the belt or the bra. If you can get creative, you can really design your own one-of-a-kind costumes.
