is it possible to have a belly dancing or belly dancing inspired dress that doesnt show your stomach? its for a dance that im going to, so i dont really think theyll let me in wearing a bra and a long skirt. so if thats possible, can you describe it or give me the link to it please?

You can buy a body stocking/mesh leotard that will go under many costumes (skirt and choli top, or harem pants and bra top) without ruining the look - I have a black one I bought on eBay and it holds things in as well as covering things up without being too thick and obvious, and with thin straps.

You could also dance in a pretty gypsy top and skirt with a hip scarf, or whatever you feel most comfortable in. Belly dancing does not actually mean you have to have your stomach on display. The main point is to highlight the movement in your hips and/or upper body. So, a big sweat top isn't really appropriate but you don't have to be scantily clad either if it is going to make you uncomfortable.

Traditional middle eastern dancers (such as those who dance Baladi, Saidi, and Dabke) often wore Galabeya's - a long dress - and you can buy more modern versions of these today. They cover the whole body, and can be form fitting or loose, and are usually worn with a hip scarf.
