What dress should be worn to a army battalion ball where he is wearing his Class A green uniform?

I have a long black dress, that is fit and flair toward the bottom with some tight tool covering it. High neck halter and low back.

I also have a knee length red satin dress, strapless, from NY&Co that is pencil shape.

Which side should i err on?

Either would be fine. The red might go better with his uniform, although it will stand out way more than the black. I went to one of those with my first boyfriend, and I wore a black dress with silver along the bodice... he looked adorable in his Class A but then he got wasted and started dancing like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever... yeah... I wanted to hide under the refreshment table!
