Why did my pointe shoes turn demi-pointe in a month?

My pointe shoes are Sansha Recital and they were super hard when I first got them and now within a month they have turned soft! I wear them for about 2-3 1/2 hours a week. I don't know what happened to them?

The Recital is not a shoe that's built to last a million years. It's more of a performance shoe (as the name implies) and as a result has a softer shank and will die more quickly.
A few suggestions as to why they're dead already:
-You've gotten them wet. This will destroy your shoes prematurely.
-You leave your sweaty toe pads in your shoes after class, and you don't take your shoes out of your dance bag to air out. You need to take your pads out and let your shoes breathe after class. I used to put mine in the fridge! It lets the glue reharden after your sweat has broken it down.
-You're not using them properly. Ask your teacher if you're rising to full pointe properly. Clomping around like a horse en pointe will ruin your shoes.
-You broke them in wrong. If you're too forceful when you break them in it can destroy your shoes and render them useless.
-You have strong feet and need a more supportive shoe. I go through shoes like the Recital within two hours. I have to use a brand new pair for every performance. If you are strong then you should be in a shoe with a hard shank. Medium or soft shanks won't support you (which can be dangerous), and will die quickly.
-You need to get jet glue or laquer. If your teacher thinks your shoes are redeemable then you can harden the soft bits.

Personally, I hate Sansha pointe shoes. I would rather dance in bare feet! That said, pointe shoes are a personal choice. If you were given this model by your teacher then I'd suggest you go to a proper dance store and get a real fitting. Tell them you need a stronger shoe. Bloch shoes are good for class work and they make them to last for class work. You may be happier in another brand. Stay far away from Gaynor Minden, though. They're for weak dancers with serious and professional level training. If you get in one now you'll develop bad and lazy habits, lose any strength you may have, and be dangerous in other shoes. They do the work for you, which I consider 'cheating'.

That said, shoes lasting less than a month isn't uncommon. I usually replace my shoes after 3 to 5 hours of wear time. My classroom shoe is replaced every three or so classes. It really depends upon your feet and the shoe you're in. I'm most comfortable performing in a shoe with a 3/4 shank because I don't have to break them in and can force a great arch, but they die within an hour with my strong feet.

I'd suggest you get fit into a shoe you're happy with, and then buy the next pairs in the same size/model on E-Bay. Replacing your shoes every month is expensive if you go to stores, but if you know what you need you can get them for really cheap online. I get three pairs of $100 shoes for a total of $50. Makes way more sense.
