How to dye the ball on your hat black! Help!?

Ok so I ordered this black Audi baseball cap, it said it came as all black but that little ball on the top in the middle is orange/red making the rest of the black hat look completely lame and sort of like a beanie... Please how can I dye that part black??? I was going to use a black marker but since it is fabric i think it will look splotchy! Help!

It will be hard and trying to use dye. I would use a black marker, and just do several coats over a 2 hour period. Buy a new sharpie for $3 and do several coats.
