Why People Dance

There are several administrative duties for every studio owner. Obviously, bookkeeping is mandatory. Mailing lists, class schedules, and information management can be time-consuming, and many studio owners opt for studio management software to keep track of it all efficiently.

 

Your music collection is the inspiration that drives your classes, so you will need to keep looking for new music often. Add new songs by searching online for options. Listen carefully to each song before you decide to download the music, and then arrange your songs for each class by creating a playlist on your MP3 player, iPod, or computer.

 

Going after your dream of opening a dance studio can be exciting, fun and profitable, provided you take the time to properly plan, design and run your business. Sharing your love of dance is wonderful, and earning a great living makes it priceless.

 

For as long as we have been upright creatures, human beings have been dancing. Dance is a form of expression that supersedes verbal language; it is possible to convey far more meaning in a sweeping gesture than a simple phrase. But why do we dance? What compels us?

 

Celebration. Every culture across the globe celebrates for many different reasons. Social events, such as birth and marriage are two of the most common causes for festivity. There are also dances to praise the merits of each season. In Africa, for instance, there are dances of praise for fertility, of both crops and offspring. Other dances may be more specific to a particular area, or tribe, such as dances to celebrate a recent victory. One could argue that dance rituals of death fall in this category. While dancers grieve over the loss of a loved one, they simultaneously celebrate the life of that person.

 

Communion. Most humans believe in a Higher Power, and with this belief comes the desire to communicate and receive blessings from that entity. Sacred dances have been practiced for centuries, and are still quite common in places such as India, Asia, Indonesia, Africa and the Middle East. Dancing for communion is intricately linked with prayer, as well.

 

Connection. Humans are social creatures, and dance has long been a way for people to find connection and community. The array of group dances over time is staggering, from the simple maypole dance of spring, to waltzing, contra dancing, square dancing, and the ubiquitous conga line. Never has the old adage "no man is an island" ever been more correct than on the dance floor.

 

In the end, the simplest reason of all may be that it feels good to move our bodies to music. It is one of the most natural forms of expression, and a common language we all share. Young children are the most accurate barometers of how innate dance is for humans. If they hear a beat, they move their feet. Or hips, or anything else they can think of. Dance is not only our heritage, but also our birthright.

good songs to do a praise dance too?????

Me and my sister are supposed to be doing a praise dance sunday BUT she wont agree on a song with me she wants to do Kirk franklin 911 but i told her i cant do it because i wont be able to act out the words right. soo please give me some good christian songs we can do a praise dance to.
People this is VERY VERY VERY important please give me good christian songs to dance to i only have 4 days please HELP!

I really like "Shackles" by Mary Mary. I mean even some of the lyrics say "Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance. I just wanna praise ya." It's a pretty popular song so you may already know it.

Another song that has a similar vibe as "911" is "What A Fool I've Been" by Crystal Lewis and T-Bone. This has been one of my favorite songs since childhood. I would advise you to at least listen to it all and see about using it.

Another resource for some great Christian music for the future is www.gospelreggae.com. I HIGHLY reccomend "I Stand" by Sherwin Gardner. That man has talent! Also, I was considering about dancing to "Heaven Above" by Avion Blackman. Both beautiful songs that you could also use. On the website go to the "store" tab, click the MP3 section, and then click whatever genre you'd like, to hear samples or to make a purchase. Sherwin's song is found under Carribean Praise, while there are several versions of Avion's song. You can type in "Heaven Above" in the search box and you'll find them all right there.
