When you begin to start doing gymnastics its ok to start doing gymnastics in shorts and a t-shirt. Eventually you will want to go shopping for a leotard for gymnastics. You can purchase this item from several locations. If you are taking gymnastic lessons you might want to check with your gymnastics teacher before deciding on this purchase. Sometimes they sell them inside the gym or the gym itself could have a supplier that may be giving coupons or whole sale for every athlete in the center.  The leotard for gymnastics is designed of a feather weight material with elasticity so that the athlete is able to move around freely. They are designed in long, short, or spaghetti sleeves. You can get different styles. Some have open backs, full backs or cross straps. They also have a leotard that appears strapless however this is just an illusion. All the leotard for gymnastics have straps.

When choosing a leotard for gymnastics you would like to chose the one that is most fitting for you to do gymnastics in. Leotards can cost anywhere from $10 up past $100. Depends on what you have to spend and what fits you best. They arrive in all different colors which makes it nice especially for young girls who want a certain color. While performing sometimes your decision of leotard for gymnastics depends with your coach and the staff. It may  be that you may have to wear the color of the location your representing or it could be the design of the facility you are with.  More than likely the coach will want the athlete to have a particular color and style of leotard so that its accessible for the judges to see which establishment you are representing.

The selection of leotard for gymnastics has changed from color's and designs through out the years. Cathy Rigby had a pink leotard in 1968 at the Summer Games located in Mexico. The leotard that athletes wear have improved a lot over the years with the variations styles and materials that is used.
