Bed Linens - How to Layer Your Bed for a Good Night Sleep

After a long exhausting day, who doesn't want to look forward to curling up into a warm and cozy bed? We spend few minutes a day in our sofa, but we sleep in our bed 8 hours a night. Making up a bed every day is one way to get a good night sleep. Bed linens look more appealing and comfortable when they are dressed up neatly on bed.

It is really very important to make your bed because it is a way to sleep better. Psychologically, it feels good if you have something checked up your list, first thing in the morning you have made your bed. When you get back into it at night, how much it feels better if your bed is crisp and not a mess.

It's really vital to pay attention from the foundation all way up as you make your bed. If you are using a box spring, start from it. The dust ruffle or bed skirt goes on top of the box spring. It helps dust from collecting under the bed while adding a decorative accent on your bed. It hides the box spring or bed frame to make a finish look.

It is because your mattress is a real life investment, you want to protect it. So we have a mattress pad protector. Then add a mattress topper to add an extra layer of indulgence. It adds extra comfort and cushion to make the bed so comfortable and oftentimes its best.

Then come to your fitted sheet. One that is microfiber is most unbelievably soft fabric, wrinkles-resistant and eco-friendly or you may prefer a 100% Egyptian cotton for warmth and comfort. To make a finish sheet cover, pull the fitted bottom sheet elastic tightly and evenly over the mattress corners. Smooth from the center, then tuck under the sides.

Add the flat or top sheet. The wide hem of the sheet must be placed on top with the good side facing down. Spread it out evenly and smoothly across the bed with foot and long edges hanging equally below the bottom of the mattress.

Tuck the foot edge under the mattress from corner to corner. Pull one long edge onto the mattress to make a folded edge of 45- degree angle from the corner to make a hospital corner, the neater and more wrinkle-free, the better. Pick up the side edge at the bottom and hold it out. Tuck in what is left hanging down at the corner. Tuck in any part of the sheet that is hanging below the mattress. Repeat for the other corner bottom. Note also that a sheet and a blanket are folded together into a hospital corner.

Making hospital corner is a very neat way to tuck the sheets under the mattress at the foot of the bed. Anyone who works in a hospital, or joins the army usually has to learn how to make hospital corners.It is not easy to do without instructions.

To continue making the bed, put the lightweight blanket over the top sheet. Place it with right side up about 8 inches from the top of the sheet. Tuck in the bottom edge and make hospital corner. Fold in the top sheet over the top of the blanket. We can see that the right side of the top sheet is showing. Tuck in the entire sides if you wish to keep the covers tight.

Finally, spread the comforter or duvet over the bed. Smooth it with your hands, removing creases or wrinkles. Decorate your bed with pillows and euro shams.

The number of bedclothes layers to make the bed depend upon the climate. In hot temperatures, you can remove other layers to keep your bed cozy and comfortably warm.
