chicago summer dance intensives?
okay so i am trying to decide between two summer dance workshops: Giordano 5 day summer intensive and the river north 4 day summer workshop. the giordano one offers classes in ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, yoga, and a guest jazz artist master class, with opportunity for summer scholarship. River north offers 4 classes per day: jazz, ballet, company repertoire, yoga, Pilates, and acting, style, & expression, nutrition, with a chance for summer scholarship and a performance by the company. I am having a lot of difficulty choosing one. If anyone has had any experience with these workshops please share your experiences on this. help me make a decision!
River North is a professional contemporary company. Dancers starting in that company often end up at Hubbard Street Dance. Getting a scholarship for the summer at River North is much better that at Giordano.
I cannot say I know the workshops, but I know the companies and River North will offer you far more opportunity. Because of this, there is the dilemma that it may be easier to get the scholarship at Giordano but it really depends on the kind of dancer you are. If you could get into both I would pick River North hands down.
