The banks of Vembanad Lake are where Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is situated.  The quaint surroundings are the habitat of hundreds of species of birds and are a favourite haunt of migratory birds.  The sanctuary spread across 14 acres of lush greenery the park is visited by many enthusiastic ornithologists visiting the region to get a glimpse of various colourful birds such as waterfowl, cuckoo, egret, darter, cormorant, owls, Siberian crane, flycatcher, teal, lark and more.  Morning is the ideal time to visit the park to catch the beauteous views of the birds colouring the skies in rich colours while the fly together in groups.

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

Another important wildlife sanctuary situated in the state of Kerala, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is where wild animals such as Indian Bason, elephant, deer and tigers can be spotted under the thicket.  Also dancing peacocks and beauteous peafowl are common in the region.  One can see a remarkably large vegetation of deciduous teak trees in the region and pastures of west-coast semi-evergreen trees.  Visitors mainly visit the park to see herds of elephants roaming, playing and bathing in the region which is a renowned one under Protect Elephant.
