Tutu Dresses Make The Perfect Dance Costume

Do you have a big performance coming up for your dance group? It can be difficult to find a way to costume all your performers at a reasonable cost and yet at the same time make sure your dancers stand out and have impact. As a dance teacher I know it can be a daunting task to costume twenty or more young dancers quickly and efficiently without needed masses of sewing or paying a fortune for a costume.

The tutu is the perfect solution to the problem of costuming a large group of young dancers. The cost of a basic tutu is very reasonable and they come in many colours and styles from three layers to very full 'pettiskirts'. The tutu comes in so many styles and colors that you will be spoilt for choice when selecting the perfect tutu. Depending on the style of the dance and the mood of the performance you may wish to have your dancers in the same color and style or in wild and wacky more modern and 'edgy' designs.

The most economical way of creating a fabulous costume quickly is to buy a basic one color tutu and customise it by using a selection of beads, sequins, feathers, fur, metallic trims and any other trims you can think of to make your tutu costume designs totally unique and individual.

If your performance is ballet in style you may go for the traditional white or ballet pink tutus and all your dancers can be in the same color. You can pick a short tutu or a longer romantic tutu. The tutu can be worn with matching ballet tights in pink, ivory or white. The ballerinas can match their headwear the design of the costume. This is only one way of wearing the tutu.

If you are costuming a ballet performance you could look at the ready made designs which will cost you a fortune and simply copy the design in your own way depending on your budget. You might look at the arrangement of silver sequins and stick on your own using glue or iron on motifs. So you don't even need to be able to sew. You could pay many hundreds for such a design but you can replicate the same effect is a cheap and easy way. Sequins under stage lights catch the light and look amazing.

An opposing design idea is to go completely modern with your tutu costume design. Go for bright and bold colors. Even neon colors are available in neon orange, lime and acid colors. Neon colors glow under the stage lights and look dazzling. Team them with contrasting tights and jazz shoes or boots for a completely modern and 'punk' retro look.

There are even Spanish style tutus, fairy tutus; pin stripped jazz tutus and even sailor tutus. Some handmade and elaborate tutus cost thousands of dollars to buy. But don't worry for considerably less you can customise and make your own tutu's which stun your audiences for a mere fraction of the cost.
