How should a show coat fit?
After quite a while of training up or it, me and my horse are finally ready to begin showing. In the summer, we'll begin with low level (2'6" hunter and maybe show jumping competitions). So I need a show coat that is suitable for hunter over fences, and will still be even when I progress. I already know the coat I want, but I'm curious about fitting...
So how should a hunt coat it, or a woman? How long should it be, how long should the arms be, how fitted at the waist/bust etc?
also, I have a fairly small waist compared to my hips/ bust (im 34.5-24.5-35.5), and most clothes dont it quite as well as I would like at the waist...would it be worth my while to get a coat tailored (proffessionaly of course), and how much would this cost? Thanks everybody!!
Your show coat should be fitted snugly but not so snug that it's restricting you from moving your arms. Try your coat on with your show shirt to ensure you know exactly how it's going to fit. The sleeves should be about an inch below your wrist allowing your show shirt cuffs to peak through. I've always had a hard time trying to find a coat because of my bust. You just have to experiment.
Try getting in your two point and moving your arms around in your coat to see if you feel comfortable.
I don't have an idea about how much it would cost to get a custom one. I would ask the tailor you plan on seeing to have it done. My barn mate is 5'9" and has really long arms and torso and she always gets her show coats custom made. They turn out great!
this is how it should fit ---> http://www.horseandridertack.com/Tuff%20Rider%20show%20coat.jpg
it's snug but allows enough room to move.

Quantitative Techniques for Competition and Antitrust Analysis $69.95 This book combines practical guidance and theoretical background for analysts using empirical techniques in competition and antitrust investigations. Peter Davis and Eliana Garcés show how to integrate empirical methods, economic theory, and broad evidence about industry in order to provide high-quality, robust empirical work that is tailored to the nature and quality of data available and that can withstand expert and judicial scrutiny. Davis and Garcés describe the toolbox of empirical techniques currently available, explain how to establish the weight of pieces of empirical work, and make some new theoretical contributions. The book consistently evaluates empirical techniques in light of the challenge faced by competition analysts and academics--to provide evidence that can stand up to the review of experts and judges. The book's integrated approach will help analysts clarify the assumptions underlying pieces of empirical work, evaluate those assumptions in light of industry knowledge, and guide future work aimed at understanding whether the assumptions are valid. Throughout, Davis and Garcés work to expand the common ground between practitioners and academics. |
