You can also fold a rectangular scarf lengthwise to form an "S" fold. Now wrap the scarf around your hip and tie at the side either using a knot or a small bow. Pull the unknotted side of the scarf so that it is pulled over your buttocks and give even the simplest dress a festive look! Hip scarves look good on self-colored outfits so as to break the monotony. You can brighten out a dull outfit with a bold but subdued hip scarf.

Nothing looks more seductive than wearing a body-clinging dress and accentuating your hips with a colorful hip scarf. Scarves with beads, coins and pearls are very exotic and may not suit all occasions. Pick the right occasion to wear them so that you do not make a fashion faux pas.

Hip scarves are considered unconventional by many. However, do not let that stop you from wearing patterned or self-colored scarves around your hips to bring out the best. Is is okay to wear a belly dancing hip scarf with jeans?

I am full-figured woman. I just started taking belly dancing classes at school and I have a blue hip scarf with lots of coins. Is it cool/acceptable for me to wear my hip scarf outside of class? I wanted to wear it over my new dark blue jeans, a cute new top, and boots I have. Will I look odd or should I just go for it?

Belly dancing belts look good with most things...(I belly dance too)
and I think you should go for it... belly dancing is about a woman feeling empowered in her body, and embracing the "goddess" inside... show everyone how awesome you are, coz you can move your body and are able to understand and express your femininity... the only drawback might be that the coins will drive you dilly from clinking all day... and might annoy other people too, so maybe just be sensitive to WHEN you actually wear it and WHERE... GO FOR IT YOU GODDESS YOU!!!!!!!!
