What To Wear When Teaching Ballet

The clothes you wear when you teach ballet will be very similar to those worn by your students. However, you should remember that while your students may be attending dance class for a couple of hours each day, you're likely to wear your dance wear for much longer periods of time meaning that comfort should be your number one priority.

It's always best to lead by example so a leotard is best suited. If you don't feel comfortable in a leotard, then a vest top will offer sufficient freedom of movement and allow your students to see the placement of your body well enough. During the colder months of the year, dance studios can be a little cool so it may be worth wearing a knitted dance cardigan with long sleeves and that can be tied at the front. Wearing ballet tights will also help keep your legs warm though you may prefer to go for a pair of fitted jazz pants.

Whilst you can wear ordinary ballet shoes many teachers find it more comfortable to wear a pair of teaching shoes such as the Capezio Pedini Teaching Shoe or Bloch Paris Teaching Shoe. The benefits are that they are soft and supple like a ballet shoe but offer more support. They look like ballet shoes but have a low block heel to alleviate pressure at the back of the foot that can cause discomfort when standing up for a long period of time. A Dance Question....?

I just went to a dance wear store and I got ballet slippers. In my dance studio they want split sole but I'm pretty sure they gave me a full sole. Do you think that it will make any difference, because I'm worried they'll get mad? The style is Capezio Teknik Ballet 200 NPK . And inside the shoe says: Leather Upper & Sole .

Yes you have a full sole shoe. You should really get what your dance studio wants. Although if you are a first time dancer full sole would be better to help you build that muscle to point.
They asked for split sole shoe because it shows how well your arch is and how well you point and flex your foot. I like split sole shoes because they are more comfortable for me and really conform to your feet.
