Black jewellery isn't dull! It can be elegant and sophisticated, and will enhance virtually any outfit. As a fan of dark coloured gemstones myself, I like their associations with the lore of crystals and gemstones and
gold heart pendants
. According to legend, black stones are noted for their grounding powers, acting as anchors to return the truth-seeker to reality. Individual stones are also considered to have their own powers, of which more later.

Black stones absorb colour and for that reason don't reflect any light. They are associated with the planet Saturn, and can stand for rebellion and fortitude.
Previous associations with elderly aunts and the Victorians and their use of black gemstones such as Whitby jet for mourning jewellery have now given way to classy and stylish jewellery which is often used on its own or combined with other stones and diamonds. The options are endless - worn as rings or set in silver necklaces, or set in unusual materials including wood or stainless steel. They can be contemporary, or ‘New Age', funky or ‘Gothic'.

My favourite ring is a piece of polished Snowflake Obsidian, so named as a result of white internal patches of potassium feldspar, that produce it appear to be snowflakes dropping from a black sky. It is known to improve the sharpness of your mind and lucidity of eye sight - thus maybe that's the reason why it suits me! Obsidian is in fact volcanic glass, and it is often known as Apache Tears.
Black onyx is really a member of the Agate family, and is available in several different colors in addition to black. It had been preferred in making cameos, and in addition can be found in men's jewelry, mainly rings. Onyx is considered to get rid of negative thinking and promote optimistic feelings.

Haematite is yet another gem stone which also comes in various colors, from black to a reddish brown. It had been a very well-used stone in Ancient times, the Aztecs and also the Egyptians particularly used it for artwork on walls along with donning on the body. It is actually often located throughout the world, therefore it is not expensive. In gem lore, haematite has a comforting and relaxing benefit, dissolving pessimism, and helping ground the person wearing them.

Since the preview for the Ironman movie has the namesake Black Sabbath song in it, rumors are running wild that Ozzy is doing a cameo for the Ironman movie this year. Can anyone confirm this? I'm sure Stan Lee will do his.
