Get Vibrant Colors For Your Gypsy Costumes

Gypsy costumes have always attracted people due to vibrant use of colors, the ecstatic mood that it sets forth and also because of its ingenuity. To get dressed up in a gypsy costume you can let your inspiration go wild and use a range of items to enhance it.

Gypsies were earlier known as Roma and were constituted of members of loose traveling who rambled through Europe during fifteenth and 16t centuries. You can still find some gypsies in some pieces of the planet.
A length of material tied at the shoulder ran down the back and across the opposite waist and the front of the body like the toga worn by Romans.

As time went by, the gypsies also started following fashion and wearing the same garb as the locals of the hamlet they passed through. Gypsy clothing styles was significantly influenced by the cultural dress of the time. The hobo dress was continuously altered into laced vests and flounced skirts, which are quite popular today.

Get a bright colored long skirt, a gypsy style shirt which has gathered and scooped neck, puffed sleeves which is either long wide flowing or gathered at the wrist, a front laced vest in colourful colors, black leotard stockings, a sash for the waist again in bright color, black shoes, colorful bandana for the hair and you are almost ready to seem like a hobo.
If you don't have the time or the forbearance to assemble these piece by piece, you can browse through costume dealers' sites on the internets. There's a huge array of hobo costumes you can select from. Since the costumes are quite free flowing and loose, you don't need to worry about the fitting. However the net costume stores provide them in desired fits and color mixtures. When getting dressed in a hobo costume you can bring out all of the heirloom jewelry, which on other occasions look old fashioned.
The hobo outfits available thru online stores are quite cheaply priced and available for kids, ladies and men too. Remember the wavy long hair so symbological of gypsies and the crystal ball they're so known for. Learn a few tricks in your hobo costume and you could be the most sought after crystal ball reader this Halloween season.

What type of Bellydance would you describe these popular instructional DVDs as?

I really don't know much about belly dancing but I'm starting to get in to it.
I've bought these 3 sets of videos and was wondering what style of bellydance they were:

Jillina (Levels 1, 2, & 3)
Jayna (Bellydance for Romance)
Veena & Neena (Discover Bellydance)

I know the last one is Egyptian style, but what about the other two?

Also, what are the differences between all the styles? And what all is there? I've heard of Turkish, Gypsy, Tribal, Egyptian, and Indian styles. Anything else?

Jillina does mostly Egyptian Nighclub but occasionaly throws in a little American Nightclub.

Jayna I believe does a mix of Egyptian and American nightclub

Veena and Neena do mostly American Nightclub with a little Egyptian (and occasionally a little bit of bollywood flavor).

It can be very difficult to tell the difference in styles if you've not had much exposure to them. Even with exposure it can be difficult to tell without some explaining things. There are a lot of little things that give clues to the style of a dancer though. Unfortunately it's a vast subject that probably will never be answered well on answers. It has to do with many different aspects. For example Egyptian style is often small, contained and relaxed the dancer is sometimes seen doing movements that one might think of as drunken. Egyptian style uses a veil only for entrance and then discards it during the first few minutes of the performance. The dancer often dances in one place and does not cover much floor space, even traveling move are done around the small area but not far from it. Lebanese and Turkish styles use a bit larger hip movements and are often more staccatto. American style uses large movements focuses mostly on the beat and very little on melody, and utilizes large areas of stage. American also does extensive veil work and oftten utilizes props such as scimitars/swords, snakes, and even fans. The differences between all these styles could fill books though.
