How can I be a dancer and bellydance like Shakira?

Shakira is really cool and i love her music.. how can i get into shape like she is? i weigh 120.8.. my new school i'm going to has yoga classes!a club thing...should i join it? i have bad knee's Though..next and back! my father abused me when i was little.... but my knees are due to jeans!
anyways any advice on getting into shape and stop drinking soda? i really want to dance it looks soo awesome and fun! what if i try out for dance at school but i dont know any moves?

For getting into shape, improving your eating habits and doing more exercise are the only really good ways to go about it. Very simple guidelines are: less processing is generally better, low GI is good (stops you feeling hungry again too soon), try to pick things with low saturated fat content. If you eat meat, choose lean cuts. Trim visible fat from meat. Eat wholegrain bread and cereals where possible. Increase your fruit and vegies. And if you are really craving something like chocolate, eat a small amount, slowly, to enjoy it. If you can't give up soda switch to a version with low sugar.

I find the exercise the hardest - if I don't enjoy it I won't do it, That's why I took up belly dance about 7 years ago.

Find and join a bellydance class (not an aerobics/belly fusion gym class). There are plenty of belly schools around, large and small - you should be able to find one without too much trouble. They cater for people who have never tried it before, so don't feel nervous. Many will even have 'taster classes' where you can go along, try it out and see whether you like it or not. And don't feel like you have to look like Shakira before you go in there - there are all shapes and sizes and ages of women who go to belly classes. Most teachers will encourage a very non-judgmental, supportive vibe in their classes. Starting belly dance was actually one of the best things I ever did for my body image and self-esteem. I used to have a lot of body image problems and low self esteem but the complete support I encountered from other women in the dance classes helped me overcome that.

Belly dance is also a low-impact exercise that can be very good for people with weak joints or backs. There may be some moves that you might find impossible (floor work for example) but that's generally no drama - most teachers are very conscious of not hurting their students and will give you alternate moves to do instead. You might even find yourself as a focal point in a choreography!

Good luck, and always remember to have fun. There are many different types of belly dance around and different schools will tend to emphasise different types, so if you aren't fussed on one, try a few others until you find a good fit.

please this is not for people who dont know for sure . Do you know of any restraunts and clubs that hire bellydancers in greenville . i posted this question earlier and got a rediculous answer reg cleevage belly dancing is a talent and art that i have spent a lot of money and time learning and developing so please no answers besides refurals thank you

I don't know your area so I can't give any specific names but I will give you some suggestions on how to find them.
First of all I would suggest looking in your local yellow pages for middle eastern and medditeranean restaurants (some greek restaurants will offer bellydance shows). Just doing a quick search on yellowpages.com in Greenvile, SC returned many restaurants. I did not look specifically under a category for middle eastern or mediterranean one's but I just went by the name. These are ones that sounded as if they might have middle eastern/mediterranean cuisine, so here's a few you might want to try:
