Dressing Etiquette - What's Appropriate For An Outdoor Summer Cocktail Party?

An outdoors summer cocktail party theme complete with music and friens, is something most people enjoy. However, deciding what to wear and how to dress can sometimes pose a dilemma and create a lot of unneeded stress and anxiety for the person invited to the party. Many times, dressing etiquette will vary from one party to another as from one season to another. Therefore, it is very important to decide on your proper dressing attire for your outdoor summer cocktail party in advance.

More often than not, an outdoor summer cocktail party and other such events are very dressy occasions. For the most part, a cocktail party is not the appropriate time to wear jeans or shorts and a plain top. Most of the ladies that are at this party will wear anything from an elegant sundress with a nice print to a solid summer cocktail dress. Additionally, a sleeveless black cocktail dress or white satin dress will always make a statement.

If a cocktail dress is not for you, but you still want to look and feel your best. Then consider wearing a dainty sundress or slacks and a silk camisole. The silk camisole can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion and event. Proper dressing etiquette should be decided on when considering on appropriate cocktail party attire. Most people forget to consider dressing etiquette when thinking about dressing for a party. For the most part, if you believe it looks tacky, then it probably does. An evening cocktail party is not the time to make a statement, especially the wrong statement. It is better to dressing appropriately than arrive a party and feel out of place.

Although many of the people coming to the party are friends, this is not the time to dress like you just got out of bed. Take some time and prepare yourself for this special occasion. An outdoor summer cocktail party can be very entertaining with a variety of music and dancing. Therefore, dress appropriately and you will fit right in at the party. This includes your choice in shoes and accessories. The shoes that you wear with your dress should be summer shoes and should look appropriate with the clothing that has been chosen.

Let's take a final look at dressing etiquette for a summer cocktail party. First of all, a black dress can be appropriate if it is solid black and cut appropriately. Secondly, a nice sundress with a low-cut back (just enough to give it a classy look), and finally, a nice pair of slacks with a silk or sequined camisole or top. Accessories can make quite a statement so chose yours well. Therefore, choose your accessories carefully.
